Student Advisory Council
To encourage student involvement in College decisions:
- STAC members sit on several key SBS committees, including the College Budget Committee and the Grade Appeal Committee.
- The SBS Deans Office uses STAC members to provide student input and advice on a variety of issues.
To be a forum to which issues are brought and solutions are actively pursued:
- During the fall semester of 1999, STAC and the SBS Dean's Office jointly sponsored an SBS Undergraduate Forum on the state of academic advising in the college.
- STAC is sponsoring a year-long program entitled 'Life After Graduation.' Two panel discussion are scheduled in association with the Departments of Sociology and Anthropology during Fall 2000, dealing with the topic of attending and applying to graduate school.
- STAC is working to create a web page, which will include information useful to SBS majors, and a place to provide comments, suggestions and complaints.
To offer student support for College activities:
- STAC is currently engaged in a project to enhance the availability and awareness of Undergraduate Career-Related Experiences (Internships, Practica, Research Opportunities, Preceptorships).
- Another on-going project is designed to match graduate student mentors with interested undergraduates in SBS majors, especially for those contemplating a Master's or Doctoral degree.
