Mandatory Freshman Academic Information Meeting

Mandatory Freshman Career Planning Meeting

  • What is the point of the Mandatory Freshman Academic Information Meeting?
  • The Academic Information Meetings, held in October and November, are intended to provide freshmen with information concerning general education requirements. Advisors will facilitate the workshops and answer questions students may have about preparing their spring semester schedules. (FYC)

  • What is the point of the Mandatory Freshman Academic Information Meeting?
  • During the spring semester, January and February, freshmen must attend a workshop concerning career planning and building a co-curricular transcript. This transcript would include transferable job skills the student has acquired, internships, co-operative education, part-time jobs, or volunteer activities that enhance the student's ability to find employment upon graduation.

As some experiences, such as internships and co-ops are competitive and have deadlines for application, it is important that students pre-plan these activities into their four year schedule. Failure to attend a Career Planning Meeting will result in the student being blocked from registering for the following summer or fall semester. (FYC)

"Being a sociology major at the University of Arizona has been an amazing experience. The fact that I can walk down the fourth floor of the Social Sciences building and speak casually with nine out of 10 professors, most of them on a first-name basis, is "
