Funding Priorities

Join us in creating one of the most talented and forward-thinking colleges in the nation. The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences must rely on private funds more than ever as state funding is no longer sufficient to provide the quality experience our students deserve.

Enhancing the Student Experience

Join the Circle! The Magellan Giving Circle comprises individuals or organizations who give at least $1,000 a year toward supporting SBS and student scholarships. Donors meet their students at an annual breakfast.

Undergraduate scholarships SBS offers 150 undergraduate scholarships in the College of SBS, but with more than 5,000 students, there is so much more we can do. With the rising cost of higher education, we want to put private funds behind as many deserving students as possible.

Graduate fellowships Donations can go towards scholarships, internships, and providing travel experiences for students to strengthen their language skills and facilitate their understanding of other countries and cultures.

Recruiting and Retaining a World-Class Faculty

Faculty support: We need to continue to attract and retain the brightest and most productive faculty. We must keep our existing talent from being lured to other universities by offering competitive salaries and maintaining high-ranking departments.

Expanding Our Reach

Downtown Lecture Series: Every fall, five UA faculty members present stimulating lectures on one particular topic. Thousands of people flock to downtown Tucson to enjoy the free lectures.

Studio 44: This downtown loft at 44 E. Broadway Blvd. will enable SBS to bring people together, including faculty, students, government officials, business owners and community members to meet and form new collaborations.
