2018 Alumni of the Year Awards ceremony
Oct 26, 2018, 2:30-5 p.m.
Student Union Grand Ballroom South
The 2018 Alumni of the Year Awards ceremony allows colleges to honor their most accomplished alumni. This ceremony is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required.
SBS’s alumnus of the year is David Yetman. Yetman, who received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the UA, is a research scientist in the UA Southwest Center. His research focuses on the state of Sonora, its indigenous people, their history, and how they have incorporated native resources into their lives.
In his current series In the Americas with David Yetman, which airs on PBS, Yetman, along with colleague Dan Duncan, uncovers the geographic and cultural diversity of the Americas and takes a fresh look at the lands that make up much of the Western Hemisphere. Yetman is the host and producer of the series and received Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2014 for his documentary television work. Yetman hosted The Desert Speaks from 2000 until the program ended in 2010.
