Fall Convocation for Graduating Seniors

Congratulations graduating seniors! You and your guests are invited to the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Fall Undergraduate Convocation. This ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments with your classmates, family, and friends and includes a procession where you will be individually recognized.

Graduates

  • To register for the ceremony, please visit the SBS Convocation website. You must RSVP by Friday, December 1 at 11:59 PM.
  • When you register, you can also upload a photo and short message that will be displayed when you walk across the stage
  • Each graduate is allotted up to 6 tickets so that family members and guests may attend the ceremony. You can request your tickets as you complete your online ceremony registration. Additional ticket requests will be placed on a waiting list.
  • Graduates may pick up their guest tickets in the Dean's Office (Douglass Building, Room 200W) from December 4th to December 13th, 9 AM to 4 PM.
  • On December 14, check-in opens at 6:00 PM on the east side door of Centennial Hall. You must be check-in by 6:45pm to be seated before the ceremony begins.
  • Graduates must wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. Caps, gowns, and tassels are available for purchase at the UA BookStores.

Guests

  • The event is free, but tickets are required to enter the hall. Your graduate can pick up their guest tickets in the Dean's Office (Douglass Building, Room 200W) from December 4th to December 13th, 9 AM to 4 PM.
  • The ceremony begins at 7:00 PM (usually lasts about 2 hours). Doors open at 6:00 PM, and it is open seating.
  • The ceremony will be livestreamed at sbs.arizona.edu/live for family, relatives, and friends who are not able to participate in person.

Photography

Professional photography from the ceremony will be available to purchase through GradImages, who will email you after the ceremony.

The ceremony is Centennial Hall, 1020 E University Blvd. Go to the Centennial Hall website to review it security policy and what items you can bring into the facility.

REGISTRATION/GUEST TICKETS

You will receive an email invitation the week of October 16 to RSVP with instructions. You must RSVP by Friday, Dec 1st at 11:59 PM. Immediately after submitting your RSVP, you will receive a confirmation message.

You can register for the ceremony now and log-in again anytime until Dec. 1 to upload your photo and message that will be displayed when you walk across the stage.

Yes! We will celebrate you by reading your name and displaying your slide (if you choose to have one) during Convocation.

Yes, you may still participate, but you will not have a personalized slide as you cross the stage. You can check in at a designated table for people who have not registered, which will be located on the east side of Centennial at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14.

We hold a graduate student convocation in the spring. The Spring 2024 graduate student convocation will be on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 2 PM at Centennial Hall.

The University of Arizona hosts a Commencement ceremony during the spring semester only. Students graduating in Fall 2023 may participate in the spring 2024 ceremony if they choose. Visit the Commencement web page for details.

Tickets are free, and each guest will need a ticket to enter Centennial Hall. Each student is allowed up to 6 guest tickets, which you can request when you register for convocation. Please only request the actual number of tickets that you need.

If you want more than 6 tickets, you can request them when you register. Additional ticket requests will be placed on a waiting list, and we will distribute as many extra tickets as we can after registration closes on December 1. You can see how many tickets you have received when you pick up your tickets at the Dean’s office (see below).

Graduates may pick up their guest tickets in the Dean's Office (Douglass Building, Room 200W) from December 4th to December 13th, 9 AM to 4 PM. If you can’t pick them up during that time, you can pick them up when you check-in to the convocation ceremony at Centennial Hall at 6 p.m. on December 14th.

CONVOCATION EVENT

Please arrive by 6:00 PM on Dec. 14, one hour before the ceremony begins at 7:00pm. You must check-in at the tables located on the east side of Centennial by 6:45 PM to be seated before the ceremony begins. You will receive a name card, which will be read as you are recognized on stage

Graduates must wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. Caps, gowns, and tassels are available for purchase at the UA BookStores. On the UA Bookstore website, under the Graduation tab (top of the page) you can select bachelor’s regalia.

On average, the College of SBS recognizes around 300 students on stage during the Fall Convocation. The ceremony runs between 1.5-2 hours.  Students and guests are expected to stay for the duration of the ceremony to fully honor every graduate.

Convocation will be open seating. You can sit wherever you wish as long as you are in the student seating area, which will be clearly marked

The doors to Centennial Hall will open at 6:00 pm. The ceremony begins at 7:00 pm. Guest seating is open seating, but your guests do require a ticket to enter.

Free parking is available for students and guests attending the ceremony. The nearest parking to Centennial Hall is in the Tyndall Garage or Main Gate Garage. Visit the UA Campus Map for locations.

Bags larger than 12” x 6” x 12” are not permitted. Anyone entering premises is subject to a search of personal belongings, including but not limited to inspection of bags, purses, strollers, coats, hats, and wheelchairs.

Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection, including but not limited to oxygen tanks, diabetes kits, allergy pens, etc. Centennial Hall will not safeguard any personal belongings or items of any type.

  • Accessibility parking: Tyndall Garage is the closest accessible parking to Centennial Hall. Other accessible parking areas are available during the evening and weekend. A drop-off area is available in front of Centennial on University Blvd.   Please visit Campus map for accessible parking to see all parking options.
  • Captioning: Real time captioning will be provided for this event.
  • Seating: Accessible seating for ceremonies is general admission without seat reservations, please plan to arrive early for best seating options.
