There are several ways to help support the college and our students. Our professional staff has the training, tools and resources to make the process as easy as possible.
This is the simplest way to support the college. Checks should be made out to the University of Arizona Foundation – SBS with a note indicating how you want your donation to be spent.
Many companies match the charitable contributions of their employees. In essence, you are doubling your money and doubling your support. Check with your human resources department for the information.
Gifts of appreciated securities can provide special tax advantages, including a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the gift and avoidance of capital gains taxes. Stocks, bonds and mutual funds are accepted.
You may bequeath a specific asset, a dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate after all other gifts have been distributed. You can choose how the funds from your bequest gift will be utilized by the University of Arizona.
Gifts of real estate are sold quickly and converted into cash or used directly in connection with an existing SBS program. Accepted types of real estate are vacant land, residential property, or commercial property.
In Kind Gifts
Tangible personal property that relates to the charitable purpose of the UA may be eligible for a deduction equal to the full fair market value of the item.
An endowment is a permanent fund in which the principal is invested and only the annual interest income is used to support the endowment purpose.
Endowments create a lasting legacy and can have an incredible impact on students, faculty and research. Named scholarship endowments can be established with $50,000 and faculty chairs can be established for $2 million. A faculty professorship can be established for $1 million, and a fellowship for $500,000. A donor may also choose to support an existing endowment at any level.
There are many ways to support endowments in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Investments starting at $2 million
An endowed chair, which can be named for the donor, is one of the highest honors a university faculty member may receive. It recognizes an outstanding professor currently on the faculty, or it may be used as an incentive to recruit prominent faculty to the University of Arizona.
Investments starting at $1 million
An endowed professorship helps the College recruit outstanding candidates by providing supplemental salary or program support for that faculty member. These professorships may also be used to recognize and reward outstanding faculty who may be in demand by competing institutions.
Investments starting at $500,000 million
Fellowships offer you the opportunity to provide a university education for deserving graduate students and post-docs and to recruit the very best students to SBS.
Modern laboratory facilities are vital to our student training and research activity. Facility support will allow SBS to keep up with the constant upgrades necessary for cutting-edge research. This funding may also support the SBS Student Success District, which includes a student lounge and student advising offices.
An endowed gift enables you to have your name or the name of a loved one connected to a specific program or special interest in SBS. Contact us for more information: To learn more about gift opportunities, please contact: Ginny Healy by phone (520) 621-3938 or email email@example.com
