Creating a Culture of Belonging

Creating a Culture of Belonging

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences believes that there is strength in our difference. Initiatives to make us a more inclusive college lead to more innovation, better decisions, and better results for our students. Together, we ensure that all belong in SBS.

In SBS, we are dedicated to creating a serious, open, free intellectual space for inquiry, one in which all faculty, students, staff members, and community partners can participate fully. We are committed to attracting and retaining the best and brightest students, faculty, and staff because we believe that interaction and collaboration among people with different perspectives, values, and backgrounds enhance the possibilities for sustained intellectual inquiry and positive social impact. We seek to create an environment that respects the dignity, civil rights, and academic freedom of all the College’s members and partners, so that it is our questions and not our ideologies, our joys and not our fears, that set our horizons. Together, we create a community where all belong.
