UArizona Social Science Programs Excel in Recent Shanghai Rankings
Four programs in the UArizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences have been recognized in the 2021 Global Rankings of Academic Subjects, published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.
UArizona earned high marks in the areas of library and information sciences (No. 17 globally; No. 11 in the U.S.); communication (No. 30 globally; No. 19 in the U.S.); geography (No. 34 globally; No. 7 in the U.S); and sociology (No. 43 globally; No. 31 in the U.S.).
In addition, the University of Arizona ranked No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 2 globally in the area of water resources, an area that scholars in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences contribute to.
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, or GRAS, scores more than 4,000 global universities across 54 subjects in five categories (natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences) based on the number of papers authored by an institution in an academic subject, the number of papers published in top journals, the amount of international collaboration and the total number of staff members that have won significant awards.
