JSW — Journal of the Southwest — Radio, a podcast production of the Southwest Center, recently featured three guest contributors who bring refreshing narratives from the borderlands, exploring the rich histories and ongoing struggles of the region.

Lucas Belury, a Ph.D. student who works alongside assistant professor Beth Tellman in the Department of Geography, Development, and Environment, takes us deeper into his compelling bilingual series on flood justice on the border, focusing this time on the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo Delta. Discover how the forces of nature and human intervention combine to shape the lives of people all along this vital waterway.

Long-time JSW Radio contributor Pat Schwartz, in conversation with Michelle Berry, an assistant professor in the Department of History, explores fresh approaches to the practice of history, challenging us to consider how non-human actors shape our past and present.

Schwartz sheds light on a critical but often overlooked topic: Mapping Racist Covenants in Tucson. This episode features Jason Jurjevich — an assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Development, and Environment, and director of the MRC Project — and uncovers the hidden histories of segregation and discrimination embedded in the region's real estate practices.
