Jeff Winkelman

Associate Director, Career Development & Employer Relations

Jeff Winkelman serves as Associate Director for Career Development & Employer Relations in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. Jeff leads the SBS Career Hub, which serves to provide all students with the skills necessary for successful job and internship searches. The Career Hub is a resource for all SBS students that want support with application materials, job searching, interview preparation, networking, resume creation, and more. Working in collaboration with Internship Coordinators and the University of Arizona’s Center for Career Readiness, the SBS Career Hub hosts SBS-specific workshops, alumni panels, career fairs, one-on-one guidance, and networking events. One of the primary objectives of the SBS Career Hub is to foster accessibility to resources and connections to employers to ensure the best employment outcomes for all SBS students.

After graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in anthropology, Jeff worked in K-12 education for 15+ years teaching all levels of history and social science, while earning a master’s degree in history. Jeff transitioned to running the college counseling department at a local high school before joining the Eller College of Management’s career development team. After two years of supporting Eller graduate students Jeff moved to the School of Government and Public Policy as the Assistant Director of Career Development and Community Engagement, where he grew student support services and expanded alumni and community involvement. Jeff is excited to share these services and opportunities with the whole of SBS so more students can benefit from professional development, alumni, and employer activities.

Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hiking, camping, playing with clay, listening to music, and socializing with friends. Born in a midwestern college town, Jeff has lived in Tucson for over 30 years and loves the flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert. He has a pet dog and cares for a desert tortoise that lives in his backyard. Other interests include historic preservation, archaeology, and travel.
