Looking to strengthen your public relations skills and connect with other talented people in the industry? PRSSA is the club for you!

The Public Relations Student Society of America, or PRSSA, at the University of Arizona, is a club where students interested in public relations, communications, and social media marketing come together to deepen their knowledge of the industry by working on campaigns and strengthening their professional and social media skills. The meetings feature guest speakers working in PR-related fields as well as helpful networking opportunities.

Incoming PRSSA President Anna Lineberry says her favorite memory with the club was attending the Leadership Assembly in Seattle last spring break.

“We heard from many different guest speakers about their experiences in PR, attended a resume-building workshop, and were able to participate in the voting for the national PRSSA board,” Lineberry said. “Meeting leaders from other chapters was so inspiring as we got to share ideas with each other about how we can improve our chapters.”

PRSSA advisor Carolyn Smith Casertano is also a PRSSA regional representative. She explains that being part of the club can set you apart and benefit your professional trajectory.

“As a professional, I can attest to the fact that many employers are eager to see that students have been involved in clubs like PRSSA, particularly if they’ve volunteered in a significant way, helped plan a conference, worked on a campaign, etc. … it really makes all the difference,” Casertano said. “For students interested in communications, public relations, and marketing — joining PRSSA can literally change your life!”

PRSSA also hosts many other events for students such as a headshot happy hour where members and non-members of the club can come together to network and have professional headshots taken. This is a great way to promote the club and help students improve their professional identity.
